Once you apply for your Golden Visa or D7 Visa, where will you live once you arrive in Portugal? There are a number of options to consider.
If you already have sold your house back home and have money for a new one, you can consider buying an existing home or building a new one. There are plenty of great properties available right now and the housing market currently benefits buyers over sellers so it’s likely you can find a great value.
Other Options
If you aren’t sure where you want to live in Portugal right away, another option is to rent. Like anywhere else, Portugal has a large selection of apartments, many of which are large, bright, and located in spectacular areas. There also are sublets available if you don’t want to commit to a year-long lease.
Another option is staying with relatives or friends who already live in Portugal. This offers the advantage of having somebody who knows the area available to you to offer advice and direction.
A third alternative is a short-term rental, such as an extended-stay hotel. Many very nice hotels and even luxury resorts in Portugal will rent by the week or even by the month. This gives you enough time to get here, look around, and make an informed choice as to where you want to live permanently.
